Peace River Regional Auxiliary and Sunrise Kiwanis help Charlotte County schoolchildren

On July 25, the Health Care Volunteers of Peace River Regional Medical Center Auxiliary presented Sunrise Kiwanis with a $1,000 check to benefit the Shoes for Kids Project.
Peace River’s non-profit organization, which promotes the health and welfare of area residents, has donated to this project for four consecutive years to help Sunrise Kiwanis fill the shoe needs for schoolchildren in the Charlotte County Public School System. Money raised for the cause is in addition to the number of shoes brought in and collected by Peace River Regional staff.
“Sunrise Kiwanis of Port Charlotte is deeply appreciative of the support extended by the Peace River Regional Auxiliary and hospital for our Shoes for Kids Project,” said Christy Smith, program developer. “Peace River has been a continued supporter of this program, which provides new tennis shoes to any child in need at the beginning of the school year. With wonderful community partners such as Peace River Regional Medical Center, we’ve been able to provide new tennis shoes for the entire academic year. Thanks for caring and for giving so generously to this program.”
